Get to Know Our SVP of Engineering: Q&A with Natasha Mohanty

At Doppel, our engineering team is focused on building the best AI-native social engineering defense platform. We’re tackling one of today’s most complex security challenges—helping organizations detect and stop social engineering threats before they cause harm.

Our group of engineers cares deeply about solving meaningful problems by building technology that makes a real difference for customers. As threats evolve, our team is constantly pushing the boundaries of what modern AI systems can do to protect people and organizations.

We’re excited to continue growing that team under the leadership of Natasha Mohanty, SVP of Engineering.

Natasha joins Doppel with experience leading engineering teams at companies like Stripe and Google, where she helped scale platforms and teams during pivotal moments of technological change. The opportunity to build alongside a talented team tackling an important problem, and to do it in a rapidly evolving AI landscape, is what ultimately drew her to Doppel.

We recently sat down with Natasha to talk about her background, leadership philosophy, and why she’s excited to help shape the future of engineering at Doppel.

Q: You joined Doppel from Stripe, which operates in a highly complex environment. What lessons are you bringing with you?

One of the biggest lessons from my time at Stripe is the importance of thinking platform-first when building products.

If you want to build multiple products that last over time, you have to invest in strong foundations. When teams take that approach, they’re able to move faster in the long run because they’re building on shared capabilities rather than repeatedly reinventing things.

That approach is something I’m excited to bring into my work at Doppel, where we’re building a multi-product platform designed for the complexity of modern threats. Attacks today aren't isolated events, so we have to build the connections between them.

Doppel Threat Graph helps our customers create a foundation that applies learnings across their entire ecosystem to stay ahead of adversaries. The chance to build a platform that scales and evolves as fast as the technology around us is exactly why I’m here.

Another lesson from Stripe is the deep sense of responsibility you have toward your customers. Reliability was everything—if something didn’t work, businesses could lose revenue.

At Doppel, the stakes are just as important. Our customers rely on us to help protect their organizations from increasingly sophisticated threats, and I take that responsibility very seriously.

Q: What about Doppel specifically made you excited to join?

For me, it was really the intersection of mission, team, and timing.

The problem Doppel is solving is critical. Social engineering threats are evolving quickly, and organizations need a new approach to better defend themselves.

At the same time, we’re at a moment where AI is unlocking entirely new possibilities for how these problems can be solved. But the landscape is shifting fast. The rate and complexity of attacks are increasing as attackers use AI themselves.

This makes it even more important that we tackle this problem right now. The idea of building an AI-native platform from the ground up to address these challenges is incredibly exciting, but it’s also a huge technical challenge. We have to solve for immense scale while thinking creatively enough to stay one step ahead of the attackers.

And the other big factor was the team. When I met the engineers here, I was struck by how thoughtful, curious, and motivated everyone was. There’s a strong sense of ownership and a real desire to build something meaningful together.

That combination made the decision to join feel very natural.

Q: How would you describe your leadership philosophy?

My leadership philosophy is pretty simple.

First, hire exceptional people—people who are great at their craft, motivated, and deeply curious.

Then my job becomes two things:

  1. Provide a clear direction or a “North Star.”
  2. Remove obstacles so teams can do their best work.

Great engineers want to solve meaningful problems. If you give them the right context and empower them to make decisions, they can accomplish incredible things.

One thing I appreciated immediately when joining Doppel was that engineers here are already very empowered and have a strong understanding of our customers and business. Teams are close to the problems our customers face and are encouraged to take ownership of solving them. That kind of culture is something I’m excited to continue strengthening as the team grows.

Q: Earlier in your career, you worked at Google during a transformative period for the internet. Do you see parallels between that era and what we’re experiencing now with AI?

Absolutely.

The biggest similarity is that we’re still discovering what’s possible.

When the internet was emerging, it wasn’t obvious how it would reshape industries, communication, or the way we build products. People were experimenting, learning, and building simultaneously.

The rise of AI feels very similar. The landscape is evolving quickly, and new capabilities are emerging all the time. As builders, we have to learn how to operate in an environment where the ground is constantly shifting.

Moments like this create enormous opportunities for innovation. We are investing in infrastructure and best-in-class developer experience in order to drive that innovation. The companies and teams that thrive are the ones willing to experiment, adapt quickly, and rethink what’s possible.

One of the reasons Doppel stood out to me is that the company is leaning into that opportunity, building an AI-native approach to solving a very real and growing security challenge.

Q: What excites you most about building with the team at Doppel?

What excites me most is the combination of Doppel’s mission and talent.

The problems we’re working on matter deeply to our customers, and the engineering team here is incredibly thoughtful and motivated about solving them.

For me, joining Doppel was about the opportunity to help build something meaningful alongside a team that cares deeply about the work. The technology is exciting because we get to really push the boundaries of the latest models. My goal is to help the engineering organization continue to grow while maintaining the curiosity, ownership, and ambition that already exist here.

When you have a team like that working on a problem that matters, there’s a lot you can accomplish.
