Doppel supports SAML 2.0 and OpenID Connect (OIDC) for Single Sign-On (SSO). This guide outlines what you’ll need before getting started and what to expect during the self-service configuration process.
Before You Begin
Before starting SSO configuration, identify the person who will complete the setup. This should be someone who:
- Has administrative access to your Identity Provider (IdP)
- Can dedicate approximately 45–60 minutes to complete the setup
- Knows whether your organization will use SAML 2.0 or OIDC
- Has a test user available and can assign the new application to that user or a pilot group
The setup wizard will guide you through selecting the appropriate protocol and Identity Provider.
About Your Setup Link
Doppel will provide a unique self-service setup link for your organization.
Before opening the link, keep the following in mind:
- The link is valid for up to 5 days
- Once the link is opened, you have 5 hours to complete the configuration
- The link can be opened up to 10 times
- The link is intended for the designated administrator. If someone else opens it first, it will expire.
Tip: Make sure you have the necessary IdP access and information available before opening the link so you can complete configuration within the allotted time.
The exact steps may vary depending on your Identity Provider, but the setup process generally includes:
- Open your setup link and select your protocol and Identity Provider.
- Create an application in your IdP.
- For SAML: configure the ACS URL and Entity ID provided in the wizard.
- For OIDC: configure the Redirect URI provided in the wizard.
- Enter the required information into the setup wizard.
- For SAML: metadata, issuer, SSO URL, and certificate
- For OIDC: client credentials and discovery information
- Map the required attributes or claims.
- Assign your test user or pilot group to the application.
- Test the connection and confirm SSO is working as expected.
- Confirm enabling the SSO configuration, so you’re ready to test it right after this setup.
